Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 DESPITE a sluggish economy, Malaysian radio stations continued to draw strong advertising support. The latest Radio Audience Measurement (RAM) study conducted by the Nielsen Company found radio registered the highest year-on-year growth at 9.2 per cent in advertising sales for a total market share of 5.7 per cent in the first quarter of this year. Free-to-air television, the only other medium to register a growth, increased its advertising revenue by 3.7 per cent. |

Should drivers renew licence once in 5 years? |

By NG SI HOOI KUALA LUMPUR: The Transport Ministry will study the existing practice of allowing drivers to renew their licence once in every five years, said the minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.
He said the drivers involved in accidents would not be easy to detect they went to renew their licence. “This is the loophole in law enforcement we must study thoroughly. We want to know how many of them really pay their fines and what is the general attitude of the people when they are served with summonses,” he said after launching the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) Malaysia Report at Hilton Hotel here Tuesday. |

A new international survey from Consumers International (CI) shows how McDonald’s, Burger King and KFC are still marketing meals with high levels of fat, sugar and salt to children. Despite reformulating their products to reduce levels of fat, sugar and salt and offering ‘healthier’ options in some outlets, several fast food children’s meals were still found to contain more than 50% of a child’s guideline daily amount. For children between four and six years old some levels could reach 70% of the guideline daily amount. |

2009/09/24 By Annie Freeda Cruez KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 4,173 employers have been slapped with RM500 compound notices since the Social Security Organisation launched its latest operation to identify those who fail to register with it. They were among the 21,370 employers checked so far under the operation codenamed "Ops Kesan Perkeso 2009" which was launched last month. |
